Surah Al 'Alaq (The Clot), is the 96th sura or chapter of the Qur'an.
Surah Al 'Alaq (Clot)
In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
- Read: In the Name of your Lord who created.
- Created man from a clot.
- Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous.
- He who taught by the pen.
- Taught man what he never knew.
- In fact, man oversteps all bounds.
- When he considers himself exempt.
- But to your Lord is the return.
- Have you seen him who prevents?
- A servant when he prays?
- Do you think he is upon guidance?
- Or advocates righteousness?
- Do you see how he disbelieved and turned away?
- Does he not know that Allah sees?
- No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
- A deceitful, sinful forelock.
- Let him call on his gang.
- We will call the Guards.
- No, do not obey him; but kneel down, and come near.

| 'Allama-insaana maa lam ya'lam | عَلَّمَ الإنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ | 5 |
| Kalaa inna-insaana layathgha | كَلا إِنَّ الإنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَى | 6 |
| An ra-aahuustaghna | أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى | 7 |
| Inna ila rabbikarruj'a | إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى | 8 |
| Ara-aital-ladzii yanha | أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى | 9 |
| 'Abdan idzaa shalla | عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّى | 10 |
| Ara-aita in kaana 'alal huda | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى | 11 |
| Au amara bittaqwa | أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى | 12 |
| Ara-aita in kadz-dzaba watawalla | أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى | 13 |
| Alam ya'lam bi-annallaha yara | أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى | 14 |
| Kalaa la-il(n) lam yantahi lanasfa'an binnaashiyat(i) | كَلا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ | 15 |
| Naashiyatin kaadzibatin khaathi-atin | نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ | 16 |
| Falyad'u naadiyahu | فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ | 17 |
| Sanad'uzzabaaniyata | سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ | 18 |
| Kalaa laa tuthi'hu waasjud wa-aqtarib | كَلا لا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ | 19 |
